Growing up in my parents Cypriot restaurant, I always assumed that humus would be a magically complex thing to make since it was never as good anywhere else. When I moved to Berlin I was craving home comforts and asked my dad for the recipe. Within 10 minutes I had authentic, quick and easy humus – just like papa makes it.

Easily tweak it to your own taste by adding more salt, lemon or olive oil at the end. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

My family recipe for real Turkish humus which is super easy, quick and delicious.

Equipment

  • Hand blender
  • Tall jug/container

Ingredients
  

  • 540 g Cooked chickpeas Drained
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2.5 tbsp Tahini

Instructions
 

  • Using a hand blender and a tall jug, blend the garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt together.
  • Add the chickpeas and tahini and blend until smooth.
  • Add more lemon and salt to taste, or a drop of water if it’s too thick.
  • Serve with a dash of paprika, a drizzle of olive oil and a black olive for garnish.
